Arcep publishes LTE spectrum allocations in overseas territories

French telecoms watchdog Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (Autorite de Regulation des Communications Electroniques et des Postes, Arcep) has revealed the 4G frequency allocations in the French overseas territories of Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Saint-Martin, Saint Barthelemy, Reunion and Mayotte. The regulator disclosed that the licensees in the West Indies (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint-Martin and Saint Barthelemy) and French Guiana are authorised to deploy LTE now, while cellcos in the Indian Ocean (Reunion and Mayotte) will be authorised to launch the technology from 1 December.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in October this year Arcep authorised a total of 20 operators to deploy 4G in the French overseas territories using spectrum in the 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2600MHz bands (Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthelemy) and frequencies in the 800MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2600MHz bands (Reunion and Mayotte).
