State-backed incumbent Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) has suspended its fixed-wireless broadband CharJi services in Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Peshawar for ‘technical and commercial reasons’, ProPakistani reports. The operator did not elaborate further on the company’s decision to suspend the service, which is understood to use LTE technology, nor did it clarify how long the service would be offline. PTCL did confirm, however, that is offering a range of options to compensate affected users, either: two months of free access to the provider’s CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Rev B service, ‘EVO Nitro’ (all of PTCL’s CharJi devices are also compatible with its Rev B network); free installation of a 4Mbps fixed line with unlimited downloads until 30 November; or a full refund for their device.
