Serbia Broadband (SBB) has reached an agreement to purchase rival cable network operator IKOM for an undisclosed figure, according to a report by Blic, citing an unnamed source. IKOM, which has operated in the Serbian market for more than ten years, provides basic and digital cable TV packages, as well as broadband internet and telephony services. The acquisition still requires approval from the Serbian Commission for Protection of Competition, which will investigate whether the proposed deal would have a negative impact on competition in the market. SBB is part of the United Group, in which Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) acquired a majority stake from UK-based private equity fund Mid Europa Partners (MEP) in March 2014.
