Congolese wireless operator Orange DRC is expected to take the next step to completing its operational merger with newly acquired Tigo DRC from next month, Agence Ecofin reports. According to the article the Tigo DRC legal business entity will be discontinued from 1 October and the French-owned cellco will assume all of the company’s rights and obligations in the process. Orange has stressed that all Tigo numbers, subscription terms and customer contact points will remain unchanged, however. Further, the Tigo brand name will be preserved, for the time being at least.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Orange completed its USD160 million takeover of Tigo DRC in April this year; the transaction was initially agreed in February.
