Portuguese cableco Cabovisao, which was acquired from Altice Group by investment firm Apax France in January 2016, has been rebranded as Nowo. The cable operator claims that its new ethos revolves around freedom of choice, transparency and fair prices, with Jose Henriques, chief marketing officer of Nowo, commenting: ‘The brand’s DNA is reflected in its simple, clear approach to communication, that does not use asterisks or small print.’ Alongside its cable-based triple-play portfolio, the rebranding also heralds the launch of the company’s long-rumoured MVNO service. TeleGeography notes that Cabovisao was awarded an MVNO licence by the National Communications Authority (Autoridade Nacional de Comunicacoes, ANACOM) in November 2015.
