Bell Canada is planning to allow customers to subscribe to its ‘Fibe TV’ IPTV offering on a standalone basis from early 2017. Users currently need to subscribe to Bell’s ‘Fibe’ high speed broadband internet service to get Fibe TV, but this will change before the end of Q1 2017, the company reveals. The group is meanwhile investing a total of around CAD1 billion (USD775 million) this year to bring Fibe coverage to around three million homes and businesses in eastern Canada, up from 2.2 million at the end of 2015. Bell had 1.266 million IPTV subscribers at end-June 2016, up by nearly a quarter of a million in twelve months.
