Vodafone Romania, the country’s second largest cellco by subscribers, has launched its ‘Supernet 4G+’ dual-carrier LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services across 372 cities/towns/municipalities, including capital Bucharest plus the administrative cities of all 41 Romanian counties, and 330 towns/villages in their vicinities. By aggregating the 800MHz and 1800MHz radio frequencies to increase the available 4G bandwidth, Vodafone is now promising higher data download speeds for compatible smartphones, improved mobile HD video streaming and better 4G indoor coverage. The UK-backed company has also expanded the total coverage of its 4G LTE (‘Supernet 4G’) network, which now reaches 3,500 localities.
Also this week, mobile market leader Orange Romania – currently offering 4G LTE in 4,400 localities and ‘4G+’ in 13 large cities – expanded its fixed broadband, telephony and TV service packages nationwide. The multi-play Orange Home packages, offered via wholesale agreements with Telekom Romania, are now available in over 90 cities, following an earlier launch in three cities in May. Discounts, loyalty bonuses and other benefits are available for bundling fibre internet, fixed telephony, TV (160-plus channels) and ‘Orange Smart Home’ convergence services with mobile voice/data subscriptions.
