Crnogorski Telekom (CT), the Montenegrin subsidiary of Hungary’s largest telecoms group Magyar Telekom, has confirmed that its existing mobile frequency usage rights in the 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz bands have been extended to 2031 alongside receiving new frequency licences in the 800MHz and 2600MHz ranges following Montenegro’s recent multi-band auction. CT renewed concessions for 900MHz (2×10MHz), 1800MHz (2×25MHz), 2100MHz (2×20MHz) and 1900MHz TDD (1×5MHz) whilst being granted 15-year licences for 2×20MHz in the 800MHz (FDD) range; 2×10MHz in the 2600MHz (FDD) band; and 1×5MHz TDD 2600MHz spectrum. The price of CT’s frequency usage rights renewal was EUR7.3 million (USD8.14 million), while the one-off licence fees for CT’s new spectrum licences totalled EUR20.0 million. CT’s 800MHz (‘digital dividend’) licence carries specific conditions related to broadband coverage in rural and sparsely populated areas.
