Vodafone Fiji switches on 4G+ network

19 Aug 2016

Vodafone Fiji, which is controlled by Amalgamated Telecom Holdings (ATH), has announced that its new LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network, branded 4G+, is now commercially live and available to end users. At a launch ceremony yesterday, Vodafone Fiji chief executive Pradeep Lal said that his company is one of the first mobile operators in the Pacific to upgrade to LTE-A, adding that he expects to see a more than tripling in data consumption by 2018 supported by its faster transmission speeds, capable of theoretical download rates of 225Mbps.

Under phase one of the build-out, the cellco has provided coverage to 65% of the population with plans to expand into other areas over the coming months to serve 85% of Fijians by the year end. ‘Customers can enjoy the experience of our ultra-fast 4G+ speeds without any extra cost or setup,’ he noted.
