Entel Chile has expanded its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) coverage to Valparaiso, having first inaugurated the platform in the capital Santiago in May this year, TeleSemana writes. The network aggregates the cellco’s 700MHz and 2600MHz frequencies to provide better indoor coverage, faster data transfer rates, and improve service quality. Commenting on the launch, which required the installation of 104 new 4G base stations, Entel’s manager of regulatory and corporate affairs, Manuel Araya said: ‘We understand that it is important to get this technology across the country as soon as possible, so we are moving fast.’ According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database Entel claimed a total of 1.224 million LTE users at the end of March 2016, equivalent to roughly 40.1% of the nation’s 4G customers at that date.
