Digicel Fiji switches on 4G network in Labasa, Ba and Nasinu

15 Aug 2016

Digicel Fiji, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Irish-owned, Jamaica-based Digicel Group, has extended its 800MHz/1800MHz 4G LTE network to Nasinu, Ba and Labasa, building on its existing coverage which serves the greater Suva area, as well as Nadi including Denarau Island and the wider Lautoka area. The cellco’s CEO Darren McLean says the upgrade will enhance mobile broadband internet in the new locations, adding that since it launched LTE in August 2014, demand has been very high. ‘This investment highlights our ongoing commitment to the West, Vanua Levu, Central Labasa town towards the sugar mill and hospital, and on the other end up near Waiqele Airport. The greater Nasinu area including Nakasi and Tovata and Ba town area also are powered by the Digicel 4G network,’ he said.
