China Telecom, the smallest of China’s three mobile network operators in terms of subscribers, has announced a series of planned upgrades for its LTE network. C114 writes that the provider is strengthening its 4G platform with 1800MHz/2100MHz carrier aggregation (CA) and will refarm the 800MHz band – which it currently uses for CDMA-based services – for LTE, with a view to achieving full national coverage by mid-2017. Telecom is also planning to begin testing 5G technology and has also slated the introduction of voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) for H1 2017.
