Telia launches VoLTE in Estonia

18 Jul 2016

Estonia’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, Telia Eesti (formerly Eesti Telekom/EMT), has launched voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) services, which it says will improve voice call quality and call set-up times. The firm says that only a small number of devices support the service at present, with these including the Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL, though it is in negotiations with vendors such as Sony, Samsung and Apple to improve its range of VoLTE-enabled devices. Swedish-owned Telia claimed 38% of Estonia’s 1.84 million mobile subscribers at the end of March 2016, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
