Kolbi rolls out LTE to 24 new areas

13 Jul 2016

Costa Rican state-owned incumbent Kolbi, the telecoms brand of utility firm Grupo Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (Grupo ICE), has rolled out 4G LTE services to 24 new locations and expanded 3G coverage in nine areas over the last three months, local news portal El Mundo reports. The areas now covered by LTE include Curridabat, Upala, Santa Barbara de Heredia, La Union and Alajuelita. Telecommunications manager for ICE, Jaime Palermo, commented that the operator collects and analyses data on where customers are demanding more and better access. ‘Our goal is to meet the needs [of those customers], to remain the best option and be the operator that provides complete mobile coverage throughout the country,’ the official explained.
