O2 Czech Republic extends 4G to 5,500 municipalities

4 Jul 2016

Mobile network operator (MNO) O2 Czech Republic has revealed that its 4G LTE network now provides coverage to 90% of the Czech population, while LTE roaming is also available in 43 countries. In the first six months of this year the MNO has continued to extend its 4G coverage via a multi-billion-krona investment that has resulted in OC CR’s signal being present in 5,500 municipalities as well as along all highways. Ultimately, O2 plans to ramp up its LTE mobile broadband coverage to 99% of the population and focus on thickening its network so that the signal is better accessible inside buildings. In addition, in June O2 CR invested around CZK1.5 billion (USD63 million) to acquire four blocks of spectrum at auction in the strategically important 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands.
