T-Mobile Netherlands has begun trials of tri-carrier aggregation (3C) technology to improve network capacity and data transfer speeds. The firm says it is expecting download rates on its LTE Advanced (LTE-A) network to be pushed to 300Mbps once 3C equipment enters commercial service. The cellco recently announced that it offers near nationwide coverage over its LTE-A system which was launched in January this year. LTE-A technology has been extended to its entire 4G system, which reaches 96% of the population. T-Mobile is the third largest cellular operator in the Netherlands by subscribers, behind KPN and Vodafone but ahead of newer entrant Tele2.
