AIS launches VoWiFi

Thailand’s market leading cellco Advanced Info Service (AIS) has launched voice-over-Wi-Fi (VoWiFi, or Wi-Fi Calling), initially for Apple iPhone (iOS) device users only. Starting from yesterday (23 June 2016), AIS network customers can make and receive calls over Wi-Fi connections using their own phone number. The solution is particularly aimed at cellphone usage in buildings/areas with poor/no cellular network coverage.
