Cyprus’ Ministry of Communications & Works has revealed that it completed an auction for LTE-suitable spectrum in the 800MHz and 2600MHz bands, with three companies qualifying as successful bidders in the process. The Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) placed the highest bid, of EUR6.5 million (USD7.4 million), while MTN and Cablenet offered EUR6.0 million and EUR5.0 million, respectively. The regulator will now award the three provisional licences within 30 days. Each concession will comprise one 2×10MHz paired block in the 800MHz band and one 2×20MHz frequency division duplex (FDD) and one 1×15MHz time division duplex (TDD) spectrum blocks in the 2600MHz band.
