eir continues fibre rollout, FTTH subscriptions pass 30,000

3 Jun 2016

Irish full service telco eir continues its fibre network expansion, having confirmed that it made fibre broadband services available to an additional 13,000 homes and businesses during May this year. Breaking this down, 30 new cabinets were added onto exchanges already on its fibre network, extending the reach of the operator’s 100Mbps-capable service in 21 communities, while 35 communities were added to the network and are now able to benefit from broadband speeds of up to 70Mbps. Further, 500 premises were added to eir’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, bringing the total number of FTTH connections to over 30,000.
