Kyrgyzstan’s Sky Mobile introduces LTE services to all regions

19 May 2016

Kyrgyzstan’s second largest cellco in terms of subscribers, Sky Mobile (operating under the Beeline banner), has announced the introduction of its 4G LTE network to all regions across the country. Operating via frequencies in the 800MHz band, Sky Mobile’s LTE technology offers downlink speeds up to 75Mbps, with users able to obtain replacement 4G-compatible SIM cards free of charge. Additionally, Sky has launched its new Beeline Pro 4 smartphone, available for KGS4,490 (USD65.7).

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in September last year Kyrgyzstan’s State Property Management Fund concluded an auction of LTE-suitable spectrum in the 800MHz band, having offered up three lots of frequencies: 806MHz-811MHz/847MHz-852MHz, 811MHz-816MHz/852MHz-857MHz and 816MHz-821MHz/857MHz-862MHz. A price of KGS238.803 million was set per concession, and the three winning bidders were named as Nur Telecom (O!), Sky Mobile and Megacom (Kyrgyzstan).
