Claro agrees takeover of Olo and TVS Wireless

10 May 2016

Mexican-backed cellco Claro Peru has entered into a stock purchase agreement with Metsanco Limited and its affiliates to acquire 100% of the shares in TVS Wireless and WiMAX provider Olo, both of which hold spectrum in the 2.5GHz band. The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Olo launched WiMAX services in September 2012 but just two years later revealed plans to migrate to an LTE platform instead. The operator said it would invest USD88 million to deploy 1,000 LTE base stations by the end of 2019 if it was able to secure the necessary permissions from industry regulators.
