Alcom acquires 450MHz spectrum licence, partners with Ukkoverkot for service rollout

11 Apr 2016

Alands Telcommunications (Alcom), which provides mobile services on Finland’s Aland Islands, has been granted a licence allowing it to provide connectivity using 450MHz spectrum. Confirming the development via a press release, Alcom has announced a cooperation deal with fellow Finnish provider Ukkoverkot (Ukko Networks) – which also utilises the 450MHz band to provide mobile broadband services – under which it will act as an authorised reseller of the latter’s services on the islands. In addition, alongside the retail partnership deal Alcom has confirmed the acquisition of a minority stake in Ukkoverkot.
