Bermudan mobile duo CellOne and Digicel have disclosed plans to activate their respective LTE networks in the near future. According to a report by the Royal Gazette, CellOne expects to be the first to unveil its 4G network, and is currently in the final testing phase for its upgraded service. Brian Lonergan, CellOne’s marketing director, noted that the new network will initially be limited to Bermuda’s capital, Hamilton, although the technology will eventually be rolled out on an island-wide basis. The network is expected to go live within a matter of weeks. For its part, a Digicel spokesperson informed the newspaper that its own LTE network will be accessible ‘to all customers rather than a few in select areas’, but stopped short of applying a time-frame to its launch plans.
