Megacom launches LTE in three cities; Nur expands 4G network

11 Mar 2016

Megacom, Kyrgyzstan’s largest cellco by subscribers, has launched its 4G LTE network, announcing that subscribers in the cities of Bishkek, Osh and Jalal-Abad can now benefit from the faster technology. Celebrating ten years since entering the Kyrgyz mobile sector, Megacom notes that it received an LTE licence last year, while it already offers 98% 2G population coverage and more than 60% via 3G technology. Users with compatible devices can exchange their current SIM card for a 4G-enabled SIM card free of charge.

Separately, Nur Telecom, which operates under the ‘O!’ banner and was the first cellco to launch 4G technology in Kyrgyzstan, has expanded its LTE coverage to the cities of Osh and Jalal-Abad, adding to its existing coverage in Bishkek and Naryn. Subscribers can purchase a 4G Wi-Fi ‘Wingle’ or 4G Wi-Fi Router for just KGS1 (USD0.01) when connecting to Nar’s ‘Unlimited 4G’ service for two months (costing KGS2,780) or three months (costing KGS4,170), respectively.
