Tajikistan-based mobile operator Babilon-M has expanded the coverage of its LTE network outside of capital city Dushanbe for the first time. New cities covered by the expansion include Khujand, the second largest city of Tajikistan and the capital of the northernmost Sughd province; Qurghonteppa (formerly known as Kurgan-Tyube), the third largest city in the country; and Kulob, which is situated 203km south-east of Dushanbe, on the Yakhsu River. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database Babilon-M activated Tajikistan’s first commercial LTE network in October 2012.
