Digicel Jamaica hits 10,000 fibre subs

8 Feb 2016

Digicel Jamaica has announced that its fibre-based multi-play TV, internet and telephony offering ‘Digicel Play’ has attracted more than 10,000 subscribers in the first few months since its launch. Introduced in December, Digicel’s fibre service includes a range of single-play, double-play and triple-play packages which provide broadband connectivity at between 25Mbps and 200Mbps, up to 223 TV channels and a home phone line with unlimited on-net calls. The firm said it had passed some 150,000 homes with its fibre-optic networks by the end of 2015. Digicel is Jamaica’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, but the island’s fixed telephony and broadband markets are dominated by the combined operations of incumbent provider LIME Jamaica and cableco Flow which merged under the Flow brand last year.
