Mobile operator O2 Slovakia has revealed that it is planning a trial of 4G time division duplex LTE (TD-LTE) technology in the 3.5GHz band. The firm won 2×20MHz of spectrum in the 3.5GHz band at auction in July 2015 and now says it is planning to use the frequencies to complement its existing frequency division duplex (FDD) LTE systems, which operate in the 800MHz and 1800MHz bands. O2 is Slovakia’s third largest cellular operator by subscribers, claiming around 26% of the overall market at the end of September 2015, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
