Robi Axiata upgrading 2G and expanding 3G with Ericsson

22 Jan 2016

Ericsson has signed a three-year contract with Bangladeshi cellco Robi Axiata to upgrade 2G GSM sites in the Chittagong and Comilla regions. In addition, Ericsson will deploy substantial numbers of 3G W-CDMA sites in the same regions, enabling Robi to expand the network to address demand from rapid mobile data growth since the launch of 3G in 2013. This capacity expansion will enable consumers to enjoy improved smartphone performance such as faster web browsing and downloads. The network transformation will also make it ready for 4G LTE, shortening the lead time once new licences are issued.
