Nokia, Cosmote, DT showcase 3.5GHz three carrier aggregation

The Greek telco Cosmote, its parent company Deutsche Telekom and equipment vendor Nokia Networks have jointly announced what they say is the world’s first demonstration of tri-band carrier aggregation (3C) using 3500MHz spectrum. The tests combined frequency division duplex (FDD) LTE in Band 3 (1800MHz) with time division duplex (TDD) LTE in Band 42 (3500MHz). Nokia says the wide availability of 3500MHz spectrum – up to 400MHz in some countries – makes the band an ideal solution for capacity expansion to meet future demand based on LTE and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technologies. The demonstration took place at Infocom World 2015 in Athens.
