13 Nov 2015

Dominican Republic mobile operator Viva has been acquired by Telemicro Group, owned by local businessman Juan Ramon Gomez Diaz, via its subsidiary Satel. Satel is acquiring the operator from previous owner US-based Trilogy International Partners. Telesemana reports that talks between the two parties began earlier this year, but accelerated in July. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. Viva claims around 6% of the Dominican Republic’s mobile market, with around 500,000 subscribers at the end of June, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
