MegaFon Tajikistan expands 4G pilot service to smartphones

22 Oct 2015

Subscribers to MegaFon’s 4G LTE pilot network, covering the cities of Dushanbe and Khujand, can now connect via compatible smartphones, in addition to utilising existing modem accessibility. According to the operator, peak download speeds of 60Mbps are available over its 800MHz LTE test network, while the average downlink rate is 15-20Mbps. Although the Russian-owned cellco is yet to provide a timeframe for commercial launch of its 4G LTE network, it plans to eventually offer the service throughout Tajikistan.
