Blizoo upgrades HFC network in Dobrich

1 Oct 2015

Bulgarian cableco Blizoo has upgraded its HFC network in the town of Dobrich, with the infrastructure now capable of supporting download speeds of 200Mbps. The operator has invested BGN400,000 (USD228,000) in the upgrade, with 11,000 new households now connected to the grid.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Blizoo – which was formed by the merger of cablecos CableTel and Eurocom in late 2009 – is by far the largest cable operator in Bulgaria, with over 500,000 households connected to its network and coverage of more than 40 cities. With a widespread rollout of DOCSIS 3.0 technology under its belt, in November 2011 Blizoo re-launched its cable broadband range under the ‘Fiber Power’ brand, with download speeds of up to 150Mbps.
