Norwegian-backed cellco Telenor Serbia has confirmed plans to spend EUR10 million (USD11.2 million) to upgrade 1,659 base stations by end-March 2016, lifting 3G coverage to 99% of Serbians. In an interview with Novosti, Telenor Serbia’s director general, Ove Fredheim, explained that the company had already invested EUR20 million in the rollout. Commenting on Telenor’s plans for the 800MHz spectrum, the official noted that the company would use the frequencies to bolster indoor coverage in cities and to improve rural connectivity.
