Telekom Albania switches on LTE-A network; offers download speeds of 225Mbps

2 Sep 2015

Recently rebranded cellco Telekom Albania has activated its Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) network, aggregating spectrum in the 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands. The new network, which went live on 1 September, supports downlink transmission speeds of up to 225Mbps.

TeleGeography notes that the deployment follows hot on the heels of the operator’s initial LTE launch, which took place in late July. The 4G switch-on coincided with the company ditching its legacy Albanian Mobile Communications (AMC) moniker in favour of parent company Deutsche Telekom’s preferred ‘Telekom’ branding.
