Bosnian government to sell a stake in BH Telecom

29 Jul 2015

Plans to sell a minority stake in BH Telecom have reportedly been announced by the government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to local news source Indikator. It is understood that the state, which currently holds a 90% stake in the telco, will look to retain a 51% holding in BH Telecom, with the decision said to have been made in response to the operator having seen a drop in annual profit of around BAM40 million (USD22.6 million) coupled with a fear that it is losing its market position.

As noted in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, the decision to part-privatise BH Telecom falls in line with reports in March 2015 which claimed that the government was seriously considering either the partial or complete sale of state-owned telecommunications operators.
