Airtel Gabon selects Ericsson to deploy LTE technology

27 Jul 2015

Airtel Gabon has selected Swedish vendor Ericsson to deploy its new Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, while the agreement will also see Ericsson preside over the transformation of the cellco’s existing mobile radio access and core network infrastructure.

Under the terms of the partnership, Ericsson will install its multi-standard radio base station, the RBS 6000, which supports 2G GSM/ EDGE, 3G W-CDMA/HSPA and 4G LTE platforms in a single cabinet. The contract covers equipment, software and a range of services, such as project management, systems integration and support.

Ericsson is the existing supplier of Airtel Gabon’s circuit switched and packet core networks, along with its 2G and 3G radio networks.
