AMC rebrands to Telekom Albania, launches LTE

24 Jul 2015

Albanian Mobile Communications (AMC), Albania’s second largest cellco by subscribers, has completed a rebranding programme, dropping its former AMC moniker in favour of the Telekom brand preferred by parent company Deutsche Telekom (DT); the German group owns a majority stake in Greece’s OTE, which in turn owns 99.76% of AMC/Telekom Albania. Coinciding with the name change, the rebranded cellco has activated its 2600MHz Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, offering 4G services with downlink speeds of up to 150Mbps.

Commenting on the transition, Telekom Albania CEO Dimitris Blatsios noted: ‘This is a significant milestone in the history of our company and a major development in the telecommunications sector of the country. The brand identity of Deutsche Telekom and what it represents will bring forward a new world of infinite possibilities for the customers and the communities we serve. Telekom Albania launches today the 4G services, enabling our customers to enjoy unprecedented speeds in their mobile experience.’
