Indian telecoms group Bharti Airtel has entered into exclusive talks with French firm Orange Group regarding the sale of four of its mobile operations in Africa, namely Chad, Sierra Leone, the Republic of Congo and Burkina Faso. The Economic Times writes that Airtel is looking for between USD900 million and USD1 billion for the units, and cites unnamed sources as saying that the quartet contributed revenue of around USD650 million-USD660 million to Airtel’s top line in the year to end-March 2015, and EBITDA of roughly USD180 million over the same period. Airtel provided no further details, but clarified that there was ‘no certainty’ of a binding agreement emerging from the talks with Orange.
