DTAC appeals against infrastructure restrictions

19 Jun 2015

Thailand’s second largest cellco DTAC has filed an appeal in the Supreme Administrative Court requesting revocation of a Central Administrative Court injunctive relief order so the company can continue expanding its 3G/4G 2100MHz networks and share them with other operators, The Nation reports. The injunction requested by the cellco’s 2G concession issuer, state-owned CAT Telecom, prohibits DTAC from providing further network sharing by connecting the equipment it operates under the build-transfer-operate (BTO) agreement with CAT with 3G/4G equipment of other operators. DTAC argues that this infrastructure-sharing prohibition seriously restricts the right of mobile phone users of 2100MHz network operators nationwide to gain access to the existing infrastructure of DTAC, and is against legal user rights.
