3 Ireland to offer 4G to former O2 customers from 1 July

12 Jun 2015

Hutchison 3G Ireland (3 Ireland) has announced that it is extending 4G availability to all former O2 Ireland post-paid customers from 1 July 2015, with O2 pre-paid subscribers able to access 4G technology from the end of July. Further, as part of a promotion, all 3 Ireland customers with 4G-enabled phones can benefit from 4G access for free for twelve months, until 30 June 2016. From 1 July 2016 4G access will be available for purchase through an add-on priced at EUR4.99 (USD5.6) per month.

TeleGeography notes that this will be the first time that the 1.5 million former O2 Ireland subscribers are able to access 4G, having previously been covered only by 2G GSM and 3G W-CDMA networks.
