Sure completes ‘first all-Channel Island 4G network’

9 Jun 2015

With the installation of the last mobile site in Saint Brelade, Jersey, Batelco-owned operator Sure has successfully completed work on what it claims is the first pan-Channel Islands 4G network, enabling Sure customers to use 4G services wherever they are on Jersey or Guernsey. The telco partnered with Chinese vendor Huawei to deploy the Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, whilst simultaneously installing new 2G and 3G infrastructure.

Chief executive officer Graham Hughes commented: ‘Our engineers have worked very hard during the past two months to deliver these new Sure mobile networks throughout the Channel Islands … Importantly, we are not charging a premium for 4G data services and have designed a range of excellent data price plans that ensures that 4G is affordable and accessible throughout the Channel Islands.’
