LIME Jamaica given extension for launch of number portability

1 Jun 2015

The implementation of number portability in Jamaica has been pushed back to 22 June from the 31 May deadline to give LIME Jamaica more time to conduct tests on its number porting systems. ICT Minister Phillip Paulwell is quoted by the Jamaica Gleaner as saying: ‘We have granted the extension based on the expressed commitment of industry players to work together to ensure the seamless rollout of number portability in this country.’ He added: ‘The concession will allow for critical tests to ensure optimum performance and prevent any calamitous system failure that would negatively impact the entire service, impede the porting process and erode consumer satisfaction and confidence.’ He did say, however, that he was disappointed with the delay.
