CAT lines up another MVNO partner

29 May 2015

Thai state-owned operator CAT Telecom is expected to soon award a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) contract to Data CDMA Communication, which will join existing MVNO partner 168 Communications in leasing 850MHz 3G network spectrum, The Nation reports. Sanpachai Huvanandana, acting CEO of CAT, said that the new partner was expected to launch its services next quarter. CAT is also in talks for a possible MVNO tie-up with Tesco Lotus. Meanwhile, under CAT’s commercial partnership with True Corp, the latter’s Real Move unit technically functions as an MVNO for 850MHz-only services (integrated with True’s 2100MHz services under the True Move H brand) by leasing 850MHz network capacity from CAT, but the capacity is leased to CAT in the first instance by another True unit, BFKT.
