20 May 2015

Warid Telecom has extended its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to twelve cities, having added Peshawar, Quetta, Sheikhupura and Multan to its 4G footprint ProPakistani reports. Warid is offering users a free five-day trial of LTE, providing users with 1GB of downloads and a free upgrade to a 4G SIM where necessary. As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Warid launched its 4G service in December 2014 and had an LTE subscriber base of 66,140 by the end of March 2015, more than double that of its sole competitor in the 4G space, Chinese-owned Zong, which had activated its network in September 2014, but had only accrued 31,582 users by end-March.
