Ukraine’s nationwide PSTN operator Ukrtelecom has continued the rapid expansion of DSL-based fixed broadband which saw its rural DSL coverage expanded by over 50% in 2014, with the latest disclosure that it has added 124 additional rural locations to the fixed broadband footprint in the first quarter of 2015, on top of the 510 new locations covered by the high speed network last year. The latest rollouts centred largely on rural parts of the regions (oblasts) of Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Kiev, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk, and included 17,000 new DSL ports being added to the network, Ukrtelecom noted in its announcement.
