Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) said in a statement today that it plans to launch the technology-neutral auctions for two 1800MHz mobile licences on 11 November and two 900MHz licences on 15 December, having now gained cabinet approval for the spectrum sales. As reported by Reuters, the regulator has set the starting price for the 4G-suitable 1800MHz spectrum at THB16.57 billion (USD507 million) and THB16.085 billion for the 900MHz frequencies. The statement confirms indications last week that the auction date, tentatively scheduled for August, would slip back to the fourth quarter.
