Fibre backbone projects to benefit 5.1m Peruvians

Peru’s national fibre-optic backbone network projects will see high-speed internet services rolled out to 6,411 locations via 31,716km of fibre, benefiting 5.1 million citizens, minister of transport and communications Jose Gallardo Ku has confirmed. 21 deployment programmes are scheduled to be tendered over the next two years, with a total investment of USD1.16 billion, of which USD628.4 million will be spent on the access network whilst a further USD534.8 million will go towards the transport network.
