FNE-Finland contracts Transmode for upgrade to 100G

16 Feb 2015

Sweden-based packet-optical networking solutions provider Transmode has announced that alternative Finnish backbone capacity provider FNE-Finland Oy will expand its network with the former’s Metro 100G solution. With Transmode already an existing infrastructure vendor for FNE-Finland’s network, it has been claimed that the Metro 100G solution represented the most economical and most technically reliable option for FNE-Finland, with the new capacity expected to be installed during the first quarter of this year, using Transmode’s new Metro/Regional 100G solution based on all-pluggable optics and supporting the latest coherent CFP technology.

Commenting on the network enhancement plans, Timo Hopponen, FNE-Finland’s technical director said: ‘We are delighted to be offering 100G capacity and wholesale services to our customers across the whole of our Finland network. The new equipment fits easily into our existing sub-racks, minimizing both the footprint and power usage. But mainly the Transmode solution allows FNE to quickly scale traffic at a low cost and minimises our ongoing operational costs.’
