Serbian telecoms regulator Republic Agency for Electronic Communications (RATEL) has confirmed that the nation’s three incumbent wireless providers have registered to bid for fresh 1800MHz licences. Mobile Telephony of Serbia (MTS), the wireless arm of state-owned fixed line telco Telekom Srbija, Norwegian-backed Telenor Serbia and Telekom Austria’s local unit, Mobilkom Serbia – which trades under the VIP Mobile brand – will compete for frequencies in the 1710MHz-1785MHz/1805MHz-1880MHz range when the auction opens on 19 February. Three ten-year concessions are available with a reserve price of EUR3.5 million (USD3.96 million).
