Bulgarian wireless operator Max Telecom has announced that it has successfully demonstrated High Definition (HD) voice and video services over its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and will extend its product range to commercially offer these products in the future. TeleGeography notes that Max’s 4G services are currently available to 50% of the urban population in ten cities, namely Sofia, Stara Zagora, Ruse, Sliven, Pleven, Bansko, Varna, Bourgas and Plovdiv. Further, the operator disclosed that it is in the process of developing ‘an international partnership’, which will allow Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) roaming services. Max’s CEO Peter Covell said: ‘VoLTE is to voice products what high definition video was to standard TV services. It is crystal clear and you think that the person you are speaking to is in the same room.’
